If you have your own OTA Insights account and you wish to change your compset, the first step is to make the modifications in your OTA account. Once the adjustments are completed on your side and your compset is updated, please inform support.rms@mews.com about the changes you have made, so we can take these into consideration and also update the compset in your Atomize account.
If you do not have an OTA account, please contact support.rms@mews.com and explain the changes you wish to make. We kindly ask you to add to your email:
- The name of any new competitor(s)
- The Booking.com link of the new competitor(s),
Please note that without these requirements, we cannot assure that we will take the right competitor(s) into consideration when making the adjustments.
How to choose my compset?
Selecting the relevant compset is key to your Revenue Management strategy. Here are some key factors to consider when choosing your compset:
- Hotel class. Ideally, your compset must be within the range of your star rating hotel. You must question if your hotel and prices should be compared with your same rating star hotels nearby if it is worth it to be comparing your prices also with higher rating star hotels.
- Product Similarity. A good competitor would offer more or less the same products as you do. Your room types match those of your competitors, and you also offer other services such as parking, meeting rooms, etc.
- 'Geographical area. It is critical to choose competitors that are geographically near your hotel. Hotels around your area are most likely the hotels your clients are comparing your hotel with, and you may be losing or winning some clients over them.
- Price similarity. Your room types must reflect a price which is similar to your competitors. I.e. If you are comparing your single, which is priced on average at 100, and a competitor is pricing their single at 400 EUR, they will most likely not be the best competitor for your hotel.
